Building a Hyper-Local and Living Seed Culture
In a modern era where we are far removed from the dissolution and sabotaging of the Commons, we've seen the vast majority of seeds (estimates are 70% or more) and seed intellectual property fall under the ownership and 'direction' of the world's largest Chemical companies. I don't know about you, but, frankly, that's outright insanity. We are far removed from understanding the perils of modern industrial agriculture - it harms the soils; the air; the waters; living creatures and our bodies.
The fact of the matter is, we know abundant alternatives already exist. BUT, we need to invest in these alternatives - with our time; our toil; and our resources. Mountain Spirit Seed Stewards puts the seed - our Matriarch - at the center of a re-visioned food and community culture whereby we proactively invest our time and resources celebrating the lengthy adaptation of perennial and annual edible and functional plants.
We do this by co-creating a deeply rich and committed set of relationships with the Seed and each other. Hand-in-hand, we can co-create the resilience and adaptation we need in the uncertain years ahead. And, though the work is demanding, we can have FUN doing it!
